Lacey and Larkin to fight for the First Amendment rights even after arrest by the FBI

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin are two popular veteran journalists from Arizona. They became popular after their work of exposing the Sheriff of Maricopa County Joe Arpaio. Arpaio was a human right violator. He applied forceful eviction of immigrants who were living in the county.

Lacey and Larkin exposed him for the racial profiling of immigrants, mostly Latinos. The Sheriff later arrested Lacey and Larkin in 2007 for the stories did on him on allegations of exposing the proceedings of a grand jury.

Lacey and Larkin have been at the forefront leading the defense of the First Amendment. The move that was taken then by Sheriff Arpaio was against the dictates of the First Amendment, and that is why the journalist responded by taking the matter to court. The courts agreed with them that they deserved compensation. They were compensated $3.75 million with which they started the Frontera Fund. Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin were arrested in April by the FBI and are expected to face 93-count charges of engaging in various crimes including money laundering when they owned a site known as Backpage.com. Backpage.com has been criticized by the foes of the two journalists and accused of being behind illegal prostitution activities. However, the two insist that there is nothing wrong.

Through Backpage.com, they had given the people a chance to do express their opinions on different matters. Government agents should not stop any site that is giving people the chance to express themselves. Freedom of expression is the most basic right that all people deserve.

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin are behind another site that deals with issues of the First Amendment known as the FrontPage Confidential. The new site was established after seeing how much the people in offices of law ignored the First Amendment law.

People are being stopped by the government from speaking their mind while this should be a preserve of all human beings. The Front Page Confidential has been doing very well in combating these illegalities.

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin feel that their recent arrest has everything to do with their stand on the First Amendment. They have expressed optimism that they will be acquitted. This is not the first time that they have been charged for similar cases, but at the end, they emerge victoriously.

Not even the recent arrest will stop the two from accomplishing the things they have planned to do. They will continue fighting for the First Amendment laws even behind bars.

Lacey and Larkin are not the type of people to be stopped by intimidation from government agencies. They will fight the matter at hand until the end. They have promised not to give up until they get justice. It is not the first time that they are being charged with such cases but they have always emerged victorious, this time, they are expecting the same thing to happen.

The rights they have will be protected by the courts. Lacey and Larkin are hopeful that the charges will be dismissed since they hold no water under the law.
