Heather Russsell: A Career Overview

TransUnion is looking forward to a new era with its recent hiree, Heather Russell. She will replace John Blenke who has plans to retire this year. As Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, Russel will head corporate governance and compliance, government relations, and consumer privacy affairs of TransUnion and its subsidiaries. Heather Russell will be answerable to Jim Peck, Chief Executive Officer And President of TransUnion’s Executive Committee. Heather Russell’s new role is effective as of June 4, 1918.

Heather Russel is an expert in consumer financial services as well as data privacy and security. She also has expertise in the fields of FinTech, regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions. These are all skills highly sought after by firms at the top of the global financial sector, like TransUnion.

Heather Russell has gained her status through more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Her work history is extensive. After graduating from American University’s Washington College of Law with a Doctor of Law degree in 1997, Russell worked in financial services and practiced law from 1998 to 2006 at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, &Flom in London and Washington, DC.

Heather Russell also has served as Managing Director and Head of Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs at Bank of New York Mellon. This spanned four years. She was Senior Vice President Associate General Counsel at Bank of America for five years. Before joining Buckley Sandler, Russell served a year as Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary at Fifth Third Bank. She was a partner at Buckley Sandler,LLP, law firm, leading financial institutions regulation and Fintech analysis from October 2016 to May 2018.
